WHAT ARE THE WIND TUNNEL’S CAPABILITIES?
The facility is an open circuit low-speed low turbulence wind tunnel with 2 ft x 2 ft x 6 ft testing section and includes a 10:1 inlet contraction section installed with diffusion screens. A belt-driven motor outfitted with a variable frequency drive allows for continuous airflow velocities with precision flow control. The test section has 2-axis traverse systems, allowing for detailed flow studies of any 3-D model. The test section is also equipped with glass walls, allowing for non-intrusive flow measurements as the customer requires.
For multi-port probe calibration, the facility is equipped with a height-adjustable workbench with predetermined angled mounting points to calibrate yaw, pitch, and roll accurately. Coupled with McHale’s ISO 17025 certified calibration laboratory, the facility has highly accurate temperature, pressure, and differential transmitters, customizable to the customer’s requirements.
